If summer seems like the perfect time finally to learn how to use InDesign, how to improve your abilities in PhotoShop, how to get a handle on your finances by creating a budget with Excel, or how to improve your knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007’s software programs, then you should check out the Instructional Media Center (IMC) summer workshop schedule!

Throughout the year, the IMC offers free workshops to faculty, staff, and students on various software programs, specializing in the Adobe Creative Suites print production program and most Microsoft Office programs. Summertime is no exception. This summer the IMC has scheduled 11 workshops during June and July, and while there is no cost for the instruction, registration is required.

“The Instructional Media Center has been offering workshops for the last nine years,” said IMC coordinator Pattye Archer. “We feel this is an excellent outreach and a way for us to provide a service that benefits all areas of campus. Our sessions are open to anyone affiliated with the university, and at no cost. They are a wonderful way to improve your skill set and to learn something that can assist you in your professional and personal life.”

In addition to the scheduled workshops, the Instructional Media Center offers customized workshops for faculty members, departments, or groups, Archer said.

“We will tailor a workshop for any class, group or department. We can meet with you and determine your exact needs and then build the workshop around those needs,” she said. “We are here to help.”

Most of the IMC’s workshops run for two hours, and all are held in the ELI or Giles electronic classrooms on the first floor of Mitchell Memorial Library.
