The MSU Libraries and the Ulysses S. Grant Association are proud to announce the opening of the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Collection in the Congressional and Political Research Center at the MSU Libraries on June 12, 2009. The Ulysses S. Grant Association collected these materials for use in the publication of The Papers of Ulysses S. Grant. This project was recently relocated to Mississippi State University, under the leadership of Executive Director and Managing Editor, Giles Distinguished Professor Emeritus Dr. John F. Marszalek.
This collection, which encompasses over two miles of material, is now open for research use to students, faculty, staff and visiting scholars. The collection consists of copies of materials from around the world relating to the personal life and military and political career of our 18th President. These materials are housed in the Congressional and Political Research Center in the Mitchell Memorial Library and are maintained under the direction of CPRC Coordinator Dr. Mike Ballard. The MSU Libraries have created an online database that will allow researchers folder-level access to the collection. To access the Ulysses S. Grant Collection please see the following website: http://library.msstate.edu/usgrant/finding_aid.asp.
