In efforts to continue meeting its patrons' needs in today's tech-savvy world, MSU Libraries now offers NetBook computers for checkout to students, staff, and faculty.

Fourteen new Dell Latitude 2100 NetBooks are available for checkout via the Libraries' Instructional Media Center.  Four of the NetBooks are available for a week-long checkout, and ten are available for overnight checkouts. A $2.00-per-checkout fee for all NetBooks and laptops is necessary and may be applied to students', staff and faculty members' accounts.

Details of the NetBooks' technical specifications are as follows:

  • Intel® Atomâ„¢ N270 (1.60 GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
  • Windows XP Professional
  • 10.1 inch WSVGA LED Display
  • 2 GB 533 MHz memory (RAM)
  • 120 GB Hard Drive
  • 3-in-1 card reader
  • Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950
  • 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet
  • 802.11 B/G wireless Ethernet
  • Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth 2.1

The Libraries' Netbooks do not have a built-in optical drive (CD/DVD), but two external CDr/DVDr drives are available for checkout if needed.
