The Daniel Stephen "Steve" Holland Collection includes materials from Holland's career in the Mississippi State Legislature. Holland, a Democrat representing the 16th District, was first elected in 1983 and has served on the following committees: Agriculture, Appropriations, Gaming, Judiciary A, Judiciary En Banc, Legislative Budget, Medicaid, Public Health and Human Services, Chair, Rules, Select Committee on Accessible & Affordable Medical Malpractice Insurance, Co-Chair, and the Select Committee on Fiscal Stability.
Daniel Stephen "Steve" Holland was born in Tupelo, MS on November 5, 1955. He attended Northwest Mississippi Community College and transferred to Mississippi State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He also holds a Master's degree from the University of Mississippi. He has worked as a farmer and as an aide to Congressman Jamie Whitten and Senator Thad Cochran, and he was the co-owner of the Holland-Harris Memorial Funeral Home. He is married to the former Gloria Temple and is of the Methodist faith.
Representative Holland is a member of many different clubs and organizations, including Civitan Club, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, the Masons, the Shriners, the Mississippi Soybean Association, the Tombigbee Electric Power Association, and the Farm Bureau. Representative Holland was relected in 2007.
